Any donation for the Radiothon will be appreciated. Our challenge is great, but we know you will do what you can for the animals who have no hope without ALL of us.
Some animals (like some people) go through horrendous things, both physically and mentally debilitating them to such an extent that their lives are in jeopardy. When we “rescue” them, we have one basic policy: we will do whatever we can to help them heal, both physically and mentally. Once an animal is “rescued” by Animals In Distress, they have a home with us for a long as necessary – for life if we don’t find them a loving, forever home.
Our annual WAEB Radiothon devotes 100% of donations to rescue and rehabilitation of some of the most desperate and friendless cats and dogs – those who would probably not be saved otherwise.

Rescue Stories
Buddy

A very recent rescue is a seven year-old terrier mix who has been through
several traumas in his life. He was among over 1000 dogs that were housed in
large trailers. There was little human contact, little food, and no
socialization for the first six months of his life. After he was rescued, he
was eventually adopted by a nice person who just didn’t have the ability to
give him a permanent home.

Chance

In a dark, dank basement, a dog was abandoned by his owners when they moved away and left him there. Locked in that room, he had no food or water, and no bed.
Max

Max was rescued after being hit by a car. He had four broken ribs, five teeth knocked out, internal bleeding, and massive trauma to his side.
Morris

Morris is nine years old. He lived for five years in someone’s backyard. They would feed him twice a day and gave him shelter under their deck. But they were fearful to bring him inside since they had an elderly cat and did not know how he would react or if he had any outdoor illnesses.
Sophie

Sophie was rescued from an abusive situation. Not only was she neglected and
starved, but her owner literally tried to choke her to death with his bare
hands. As a result of the mistreatment, Sophie is more reserved and shy
around strangers. However, since being rescued, she has begun to trust and
accept new friends. It’s amazing how dogs can get over past trauma once they
are in a kind and loving environment.
There Are No Words…
No words needed. Without your help, these animals have no hope.
Your donation makes saving them possible. Please help us help them.
